FANTASTIC Puppy Class

This important (and FUN!) class consists of six lessons and is for puppies or adults that need to learn (or review) their basic behaviors.

Early training with your dog or youngster needs to be fun and broken down enough to ensure your dog finds training VERY reinforcing and learns to LOVE it! Correct early training will PREVENT many future problems. If proper training and socialization occur now, you will have a happy and obedient dog in the future. Our goal is to teach YOU how to be a smart and savvy dog owner and trainer, so that you will be able to handle any issue that comes up during the life of your dog.

Though many of our students are hoping for an agility future for their dogs, we truly believe in the importance of a well behaved dog, and that many “agility problems” are really “behavior problems”.  A good Puppy/Beginner Class should give your dog, and you, a strong foundation towards your performance career.

Class Highlights

The class covers basic obedience including:  attention, focus, sit, down, stay, come when called, walk on a leash without pulling, and “leave it”. It will also include important husbandry behaviors like relaxing on a mat, crate games, introduction to grooming and examinations, door manners and meal time manners.

A big emphasis in class is placed on play, and fun reward delivery, how to encourage your dog to play and use toys as rewards. The goal being self-control, and teaching the dogs to THINK and choose appropriate behaviors.

We also introduce the puppies to some essential tricks, body awareness and balance exercises that will carry over to training for your performance career.

Lessons (complete with videos) will be divided into weeks, and most exercises can be performed indoors and with minimal equipment.
